چکیده

Ultrasound-guided blocks of the cervical plexus are established anesthetic procedures for carotid endarterectomies. However, the innervation of the cervical region is complex and subject to relevant anatomical variability. Involved are portions of the cervical and brachial plexus and cranial nerves (IX,X-functional and sensory innervation of the arterial vessel wall; VII-platysma, XIsternocleidomastoid and trapezoid muscle) [1-3]. That`s why inadequate pain control with the need for additional co-medication remains a relevant clinical problem for some patients.

The Effects of Ultrasound-guided and Anatomic landmark-based Superficial Cervical Plexus Block on Post-operative Pain Intensity in Thyroidectomy Patients: A Clinical Trial

Background and Objective: Pain is one of the most common complications after thyroidectomy. Opioid administration can overcome this complication, however, it has some side effects, including nausea and vomiting. So, the use of local anesthetic instead of opioids is a good alternative. This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the effect of ultrasound-guided superficial cervical plexus bl...

Clinical Comparison of Two Different Volumes of 0.5% Bupivacaine for Clavicular Surgeries Using Combined Interscalene and Superficial Cervical Plexus Block

Context: The use of ultrasound in regional anaesthesia has resulted in reduction in local anaesthetic volume and adverse effects. Aim : This study aims to compare the quality of analgesia and incidence of adverse effects using two different volumes of 0.5 % bupivacaine for clavicular surgeries by ultrasound guided combined interscalene and superficial cervical plexus block. Settings and Design:...

Ultrasound-guided Brachial Plexus Block at the Supraclavicular Level: A New Parasagittal Approach

The study evaluates a new approach to ultrasound-guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block using a supraclavicular parasagittal approach. Sixty outpatients scheduled for hand surgery were given brachial plexus block utilising the new approach. Time taken for block procedure was short and onset time for sensory block was rapid, using a low volume of local anaesthetic agent, with the volume de...

Pearls & oy-sters: Acute spinal cord infarction following endoscopic ultrasound-guided celiac plexus neurolysis.

• Celiac plexus neurolysis (CPN)/celiac plexus block (CPB) is used to treat excruciating cancerrelated abdominal pain.1 • CPN is done via injecting 50%–100% alcohol into the celiac plexus, which is located under the diaphragm at the level of T12-L1 adjacent to the abdominal aorta and the take-off of the celiac trunk.2 • Endoscopic ultrasound guided neurolysis (EUS CPN) has been found to have 85...

The ultrasound-guided superficial cervical plexus block for anesthesia and analgesia in emergency care settings.

The ultrasound-guided superficial cervical plexus (SCP) block may be useful for providers in emergency care settings who care for patients with injuries to the ear, neck, and clavicular region, including clavicle fractures and acromioclavicular dislocations. The SCP originates from the anterior rami of the C1-C4 spinal nerves and gives rise to 4 terminal branches--greater auricular, lesser occi...
